Sixth Form

Welcome to the Sixth Form at North Brent School

North Brent School is proud to announce the opening of its Sixth Form in September 2025, welcoming its first cohort of Year 12 students. Our Sixth Form is dedicated to fostering academic excellence, leadership, and personal development, ensuring that every student is well-prepared for higher education and a successful future. With a capacity of 160 students in both Year 12 and Year 13, we provide a high-quality learning environment that nurtures ambition and achievement.

Academic Excellence

Our Sixth Form offers a broad selection of A Level subjects, allowing students to tailor their studies to their interests and career aspirations. Most students will begin with four subjects in Year 12 before specialising in three A Levels in Year 13. Our teachers are subject specialists with extensive experience and the highest academic qualifications. Lessons are designed to challenge students, promote critical thinking, and encourage deep engagement with the subject matter. Students are provided with bespoke learning resources, including lesson handouts, textbooks, and revision guides, to support their independent study.

A Modern Learning Environment

Learning takes place in a state-of-the-art Sixth Form Centre, equipped with modern classrooms, study areas, and dedicated resources to support independent research and collaboration. This professional learning environment enables students to develop the skills necessary to excel in their studies and beyond.

Beyond the Curriculum

At North Brent School, we believe that education extends beyond the classroom. Our students are encouraged to participate in a variety of academic competitions, including the Biology and Physics Olympiads and the Cambridge and Oxford Essay Competitions. Students also have the opportunity to undertake independent research projects and join a wide range of societies that enrich their learning experience. Educational trips, guest lectures, and cultural excursions further enhance students’ academic and personal development.

Careers and Higher Education Support

We provide a structured careers programme designed to help students explore a wide range of university courses, degree apprenticeships, and career pathways. Our students have access to online platforms such as Unifrog to support their research, alongside a weekly careers newsletter that highlights work experience opportunities and virtual talks with industry professionals. Each student receives personalised guidance from our dedicated Sixth Form team, ensuring they make informed decisions about their future.

Personal Development and Leadership

Our Sixth Form students play an active role in shaping the life and ethos of North Brent School. We encourage students to join the Student Council, become ambassadors for the school, and engage in extracurricular activities such as Debate Mate, The Brilliant Club, and academic societies. Additionally, our Culture Friday Excursions allow students to visit renowned galleries, museums, and theatres, broadening their cultural awareness and personal growth.

Through these experiences, we equip our students with the confidence, communication skills, and leadership qualities necessary for success in higher education and their future careers. We look forward to welcoming our first Sixth Form students in September 2025 and supporting them on their journey to excellence
